Dongmyeong unit holds protection maintenance and emergency preparedness training for UN workers and their families

Dongmyeong unit developed MSUSP training

Dongmyeong unit, which has been carrying out a peacekeeping operations (PKO) mission in Lebanon as a member of UNIFIL, recently developed Military Support UNIFIL Security Plan (MSUSP) training to evacuate the UN workers and their families in emergency situations.

The MSUSP training is to maintain the unit protection posture from enemy forces and to ensure the survival of UNIFIL workers and their families. For this training, around 60 UNIFIL controllers and related officials and 450 UN workers and their families attended.

The training started with the issuance of an order of accommodation of persons from the UNIFIL western brigade.

This was followed by an order of preparation for guidance and adjacency, arrival of the UN workers and their families, inspection, introduction of the unit and education of evacuation procedure, shelter tour and mastery of the protection procedure.

Furthermore, the unit runs the rescue and transport training in parallel for missing families who could not evacuate, so that they can complete the mission perfectly to ensure the safety of the UN workers and their families in times of emergency.

Major General Michael Berry, UNIFIL commander, and Lieutenant General Ugo Silo, western brigade commander, who led the training said, “All UN forces units should train and prepare like Dongmyeong unit,” highly praising the unit’s mission capabilities.
