Minister of National Defense Jeong Kyeong-doo reiterated that the Republic of Korea-U.S. combined defense posture and military readiness should be maintained.

On March 8th, Minister Jeong visited the command center for the Republic of Korea-U.S. combined Dong Maeng exercise in the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Republic of Korea-U.S. Combined Forces Command to encourage key military officials of the two allies, including Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Park Han-ki and Republic of Korea-U.S. Combined Forces Commander Robert Abrams.

“We should consolidate the Republic of Korea-U.S. combined defense posture by making fuller use of the command, control, communication, computer and intelligence system (C4I) and readiness system than before, and make full preparations to maintain a robust military readiness,” Minister Jeong stressed.

Jeong also called on each unit to fully focus on the allied exercises for productive results in preparation for the initial operating capability (IOC) verification that is scheduled this year before the transfer of wartime operational control. He also instructed them to substantially perform the combined field training exercise (FTX), and told each unit to strive for planned education and training.
