The Air Force Operations Commander to hold first meeting with commander of the US Space Operations Command

- The commanders of the ROK Air Force Operations Command and the US Space Operations Command will pledge to cooperate closely in developing a combined space operations performance system.

Lt. Gen. Kim Hyung-soo, Commander of Air Force Operations, and Lt. Gen. David M. Miller, Jr., Commander of Space Operations Command, will meet at Osan Air Base on February 13 (Thursday) to discuss ways to work together in space operations. This marks the first visit to Korea by the commander of the US Space Operations Command.

- Commander Miller was commissioned as an Air Force second lieutenant in 1993 and transitioned to the Space Operations Command in 2021 upon his promotion to Major General. Following his transfer to the Space Operations Command, he held several key positions, including Assistant Deputy Chief of Space Operations for Operations, Cyber and Nuclear, and Special Assistant to the Vice Chief of Space Operations. In January 2024, he assumed the role of Commander of the Space Operations Command.

- During his visit to Korea, Commander Miller will tour the US Space Operations Command in Korea and the ROK Air Force Space Operations Group to inspect key space operation sites on the Korean Peninsula.

The two commanders will share the assessment that North Korea’s space threats are rapidly escalating, including its military cooperation with Russia and the launch of its military reconnaissance satellite. Based on the strong ROK-US alliance, they will discuss ways to enhance space operations and cooperation

-In particular, South Korea and the United States will strengthen combined space operations by (1) establishing a missile detection and analysis information-sharing system, (2) expanding activities in the private space sector, and (3) increasing combined space training exercises.
