Korean Tactical Surface-to-Surface Missile (KTSSM) operationally deployed

- Equips the South Korean military with overwhelming capability to conduct simultaneous and precision strikes against enemy long-range firepower.-

○ On February 18 (Tuesday), the military deployed the KTSSM, which can make precise and simultaneous strikes at North Korea’s long-range firepower, which threatens the Seoul metropolitan area, in a short time during wartime.

○ The KTSSM, called “Ure” in Korean, which means “thunder,” is an advanced precision-guided missile equipped with a thermobaric warhead that is capable of completely neutralizing long-range enemy firepower.

○ With its overwhelming capability to completely eliminate long-range enemy fire, the deployment of the KTSSM to operations is expected to effectively neutralize any intentions of wartime provocations from adversaries.

○ The military will remain vigilant in monitoring North Korea’s various military activities and sustain its capabilities and readiness for an overwhelming response to provocations, grounded in the robust ROK-US combined defense posture.
