The Northwest Islands Defense Command conducts maritime live-fire exercise

- A regular defensive live-fire training was held to maintain a combat readiness posture.-

 

On February 19 (Wednesday), the 6th Marine Brigade and the Marine Yeonpyeong Unit under the Northwest Islands Defense Command conducted the first-quarter 2025 maritime live-fire drill on the islands of Baenyeongdo and Yeongpyeongdo with K-9 self-propelled howitzers.

 

This drill is a defensive training exercise conducted regularly to maintain combat readiness while adhering to the Korean War Armistice Agreement under the observation of the United Nations Command Military Armistice Commission and the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission (NNSC).

 

The military upholds its capabilities and posture to deter North Korea’s provocations with overwhelming force and remains committed to improving the readiness and operational effectiveness of units in the northwest islands with consistent maritime firing exercises.
