US Navy aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) arrives at Busan Naval Base

- The visit symbolizes the steadfast and enduring commitment to the ROK-US extended deterrence alliance.

On March 2, the US Navy Carrier Strike Group 1 (CSG-1), led by USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70), entered Busan Naval Base.

* The carrier strike group also included the guided-missile cruiser USS Princeton (CG-59) and the guided-missile destroyer USS Sterett (DDG-104), both of which arrived at Busan Naval Base.

The visit by the aircraft carrier to Korea occurred about eight months after USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) docked in June.

This visit underscores the perennial and ironclad commitment to extended deterrence, as recently reaffirmed by the US administration.

Furthermore, the visit aims to show the firm combined defense posture of the ROK-US Alliance in addressing persistent threats from North Korea and to enhance the interoperability of ROK-US combined forces.

During the stay of the flagship USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) at the port, the ROK and US navies will engage in cooperative and exchange activities, including mutual ship visits and a tribute at the UN Memorial Cemetery, aimed at strengthening friendship between the two nations' naval forces.
