Published the ‘History of Dispatch to the Gulf War’

A history book that contains our precious experience during the Gulf War, our first overseas dispatch as part of a multinational force, has been published.

The Institute for Military History Compilation has recently published the "History of Dispatch to the Gulf War", which contains the decision to send troops of the army medical support group and the air force transportation unit and its preparation as well as on-site supporting activities.

This newly-published "History of Dispatch to the Gulf War" puts the existing research results together that are related to the dispatch during the Gulf War that occurred in 1991, and suggests lessons applicable to unsatisfactory dispatch policy-making process and further overseas dispatch.

Our government, as a member of multinational force, made a decision to send our Army to the Mideast to actively participate in protecting world peace and perform our duty befitting increased national power in the international community. According to that decision, our military force, the army medical support group and the air force transportation unit, dispatched to Saudi Arabia and UAE, overcame the severe environment and completed their mission while they were stationed in the desert of the Middle East.
