ROK government cooperates with industry-academia-institutes for defense science and technology innovation

「1st Defense Science and Technology Policy Subcommittee」

On Friday, November 19, Yeonse University professor Yim Chun-seong (co-chairperson) and Vice Minister of National Defense Park Jae-min co-hosted the first 「Defense Science and Technology Policy Subcommittee」 in the ministry's main conference room.

The 「Defense Science and Technology Policy Subcommittee」 is a cooperative system between governmental departments. It was launched on October 7, with the aim of achieving a leap forward in the development of defense science and technology. As a subcommittee to support the 「Defense Science and Technology Committee」 (chairperson, Minister of National Defense Suh Wook), it cooperates in and mediates the innovation of defense science and technology policies on a working level.

During the Friday meeting, participants engaged in a wide-ranging discussion on several issues, including △ a plan to invigorate civil participation in defense R&D for the improvement of national research capabilities, △ a plan to enhance the training system for research officers to foster experts in defense R&D, and △ a plan to manage and develop the defense science and technology committee.
