Defense Minister Lee Jong-sup meets with Romania’s Defense Minister

The two discuss ways to increase defense and defense industrial cooperation between Korea and Romania

On the morning of December 23, Defense Minister Lee Jong-sup met with Romanian Defense Minister Angel Tîlvăr,* and exchanged views on fostering cooperation in defense and the defense industry between two countries and on security circumstances.

Minister Lee assessed that the two countries have developed friendly ties and cooperation in many aspects since the establishment of a strategic partnership in 2008, and expressed his hope that the Romanian defense minister’s visit to Korea following a visit in September will provide momentum for the further consolidation of defense and defense industrial cooperation and the strategic partnership between Korea and Romania.

Both ministers agreed that they will work towards the signing of Korea-Romania Defense Cooperation Agreement soon, based on the letter of intent (LOI) for the promotion of Korea-Romania defense cooperation that was revised in September.
