South Korea’s Cyber Operations Command will participate in Cyber Flag, a multinational cyber exercise, from July 17 (Monday) to 28 (Friday).

The Cyber Flag exercise, hosted by the US Cyber Command, has been held annually since 2011 with the aim to strengthen combined cyber warfare readiness and partnership among Five Eyes (the United States, the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand), allies and friendly nations.

In 2023, South Korea and Singapore as well as Five Eyes will participate in the exercise, and this is the second participation of the South Korean military following in 2022.

The online exercise will focus on multinational defense and information convergence and analysis of global cybersecurity threats, which is expected to reinforce joint cyber operational collaboration.

Korea’s regular participation in Cyber Flag, which will further strengthen South Korea-US cybersecurity cooperation, was agreed at the eighth South Korea-US Cyber Cooperation Working Group (CCWG) in May 2023.

Cyber Operations Command plans to develop the South Korea-US cyber collaboration system with bilateral exercises and exchanges of cyberspace professionals and technology as well as participation in Cyber Flag.
