Minister Kim and High Representative Borrell noted that the strategic partnership between Korea and the EU has deepened, particularly following the visit of EU leaders to Korea and the announcement of a joint statement last year. They also agreed to achieve substantial cooperation in security and defense.

The officials expressed grave concern about North Korean troops dispatched to Russia and strongly condemned this action, and agreed to work closely together to deter the Russia-North Korean military alliance with the coordinated efforts of Korea, the EU, and the international community.

Minister Kim and High Representative Borrell shared an understanding that security in Europe and the Atlantic is interconnected with security in the Indo-Pacific region, and agreed that Korea and the EU will continue to build up security and defense ties in various areas.
