On the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the founding of the Armed Forces on October 1, the Defense Ministry will hold various programs in which people can participate

The Defense Ministry announced on September 20 that it will hold a citizens’ participation offline line event, Gunde Gundae Gunji Sunrye, in the vicinity of Samgakji Station in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, until October 19.

The event is designed to promote public confidence and a positive image in defense and the military, and to cultivate an atmosphere of K-Military Festival with people’s participation. The event includes innovative outdoor advertising, a mission escape (outdoor escape) game, and a running media facade. It is open to participation by anyone.

From today until October 19, idea-type outdoor advertisements will be displayed at subway stations and bus stops in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, with the theme of “Reliable Armed Forces are Always with the People.” The advertisements are designed to convey the message that the military is always with the people. Notably, a photo zone has been set up at exit No. 1 of Sinyongsan Station, where citizens can take a picture of themselves marching with soldiers.

From September 21, a mission escape game, “The Shadows,” will be launched in front of the War Memorial of Korea. In the game, participants become the hero or heroine of a mission escape story and tour the exhibition rooms of the War Memorial of Korea according to mission documents and mobile links to solve quizzes. Participants who successfully complete an escape will receive souvenirs. Participation in this game is free and will continue until June next year after the end of the Gunde Gundae Gunji Sunrye event.

From September 27 to October 3, a media facade will be displayed on the outer wall of the War Memorial of Korea with the theme of “Reliable Armed Forces are Always with the People.” This work expresses people’s solidarity with the military with light and will be performed at the Peace Plaza of the War Memorial of Korea between 7 pm and 10 pm. The same work will also be shown on the outside wall of the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in Jongno-gu, Seoul until October 10.

To encourage the participation of citizens, the Defense Ministry will conduct a bingo challenge during the event. Participants who complete the bingo challenge will be eligible to apply for various giveaways, such as Bluetooth wireless earphones.

The Defense Ministry said, “This Armed Forces Day event will remind the general public of the dedication of soldiers, and is expected to promote public support for the military.”
