Vice defense minister visits US Joint Base Andrews on the sidelines of 「3rd high-level EDSCG」 to check on US strategic assets

On September 15, Thursday, Vice Minister of National Defense Shin Beom-chul visited the United States (US) Joint Base Andrews on the sidelines of the ｢3rd ROK-US High-Level Extended Deterrence Strategy and Consultation Group (EDSCG)｣ held in the US.

Shin was briefed on the capabilities and operation systems of US strategic assets which will be deployed on the Korean Peninsula on a contingency basis.

The delegations of the ROK and the US had time for discussions after receiving a detailed explanation on the types and operation systems of strategic assets and nominal nuclear weapons, such as B-52 strategic bombers, which will be deployed on the Korean Peninsula on a contingency basis.
