Vice defense minister meets with US Representative Joe Wilson

On September 15 (local time), Vice Minister of National Defense Shin Beom-chul, who was visiting the United States (US) to participate in the ROK-US Extended Deterrence Strategy and Consultation Group (EDSCG), met with US Representative Joe Wilson and exchanged opinions on key security issues.

Shin expressed his deep gratitude for Wilson’s legislative efforts to strengthen the ROK-US alliance as a co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on Korea.* 

The two sides agreed to continue to cooperate in the course of developing the ROK-US alliance into a ‘comprehensive global strategic alliance,’ sharing the view of the importance of the US Congress’s attention and support, as well as the US government’s efforts, to further cement the ROK-US alliance.
