Defense minister meets with European Parliament’s Korean Peninsula goodwill delegation

Two sides discuss ways to strengthen ROK-EU security cooperation

On Wednesday, September 21, Minister of National Defense Lee Jong-sup met with the Korean Peninsula goodwill delegation from the European Parliament* at the main building of the ministry, and the two sides exchanged opinions on current issues of note, including the security situation on the Korean Peninsula and Europe, and strengthening ROK-EU defense cooperation.

Lee expressed his gratitude for the European Parliament’s contribution to building peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula by strongly denouncing North Korea’s missile threats amid the recent grave security situation, including North Korea’s consecutive missile provocations.

Lee made the assessment that the ROK and the EU have enhanced amicable relations since the establishment of a strategic partnership in 2010, and significantly, the ROK-EU defense cooperation has been cemented through high-level exchanges and maritime security cooperation in the area of national defense.
