2nd session of the ROK-US Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Cooperation Committee

Two sides reaffirm the close ties between allies at their first face-to-face session

Defense ministries of the Republic of Korea (ROK) and the United States (US) held the ｢Second session of the ROK-US Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Cooperation Committee｣ on August 12, 2022 (Korean time).

In the first part of the session, the two sides shared their assessment of the latest defense ICT trends, such as 5G and Cloud, and agreed to beef up bilateral cooperation to incorporate such technologies into the defense sector.

The second part of the session was attended by major military officials. They reaffirmed their continued cooperation, sharing their view of the importance of mutual cooperation in the area of defense ICT policies, such as cyber security and interoperability.

The two sides made the assessment that they had multiple achievements to look back on, including ▴ reaffirming the close ties between allies, ▴ deepening the alliance relations through high-level consultations, and ▴ enhancing bilateral cooperation through defense ICT policy consultations, taking the second session of the ROK-US ICT Cooperation Committee as momentum.

Meanwhile, the director-general at the ministry’s intelligent information policy bureau with her US counterpart visited ICT businesses of the ROK and the US on Thursday, August 11, where they experienced a wide range of services that incorporate 5G and other advanced technologies.
