ROK defense companies sign first phase of exclusive contract with Poland to export K2 tanks and K9 self-propelled howitzers

Contract proves the global competitiveness of domestic weapons systems

On August 26 (local time), Hyundai Rotem Co., Ltd. and Hanwha Defense Co., Ltd. signed the first phase of an exclusive contract worth about 5.76 billion dollars with Poland’s Military Manpower Administration to export K2 tanks and K9 self-propelled howitzers.

This contract is the first follow-up contract to practically implement the Framework Contract upon comprehensive agreement which was signed between domestic defense companies (Hyundai Rotem, Hanwha Defense, KAI) and Poland’s Military Manpower Administration on July 27.

The successful conclusion of this large-scale defense contract with Poland is the outcome of proactive negotiations by Korean defense companies based on the excellent international competitiveness of our country’s weapons systems and the government’s multilateral support, driven by the President.
