Defense ministry to speed up the establishment of a master plan for 「Defense Innovation 4.0」

Defense ministry holds second meeting of Defense Innovation 4.0 Promotion Team

On the morning of Wednesday, August 10, the Ministry of National Defense held the second meeting of the 「Defense Innovation 4.0」 promotion team presided over by Minister Lee Jong-sup.

The meeting was held to provide a strong impetus for the establishment of a master plan by looking into the tasks needing further examination, such as a  detailed plan for each task of the master plan for the 「Defense Innovation 4.0」 initiative, which is being made concrete, and cooperative tasks between government ministries.

In his address, Minister Lee stressed the need to “nurture strong forces backed by science and technology," which are optimized for the security environment through the 「Defense Innovation 4.0」 initiative, saying that “it is difficult to overcome the present and future threats, and challenging factors, such as technology competition and the demographic cliff, without a radical reform of our defense.”
