Defense minister meets with delegation of the US Congressional Study Group on Korea

In the afternoon of Friday, July 8, Minister of National Defense Lee Jong-sup met with the delegation of the United States (US) Congressional Study Group on Korea (CSGK*), including Ami Bera and Young Kim. During the meeting, opinions were exchanged on the development direction for the ROK-US alliance and the security situation on the Korean Peninsula and in the region.

Lee explained that the ROK government is striving to further strengthen the ROK-US alliance in the area of defense, in the belief that strengthening the ROK-US alliance is key to the foreign security policy.

In response, the delegation of the US CSGK explained its fourth visit to Korea, saying that it decided to visit the ministry with the hope of broadening its understanding of the development direction for the ROK-US alliance.
