Defense minister meets with US ambassador to the ROK

On July 21, Thursday, Minister of National Defense Lee Jong-sup met with Philip Goldberg, United States (US) ambassador to the Republic of Korea (ROK), who was paying a courtesy visit to the ministry after his appointment, and they exchanged opinions on the security situation and the development direction for the ROK-US alliance.

Congratulating Goldberg on his appointment, Lee said he feels reassured that the highest ranking foreign service officer in the US, ‘Career Ambassador’ Goldberg, with abundant experience and distinguished capabilities, has been appointed as the US ambassador to the ROK.

The two sides agreed to maintain close communication on the main security issues between the two countries as well as the development of the ROK-US alliance.
