[At 19th Asia Security Summit]
ROK, Singapore hold defense ministerial talks

Attending the 19th Asia Security Summit (Shangri-La Dialogue) held in Singapore, Minister of National Defense Lee Jong-seop held defense ministerial talks with his Singapore counterpart Ng Eng Hen on June 10. The two sides exchanged opinions on the security situation in the region including the Korean Peninsula, and ways to advance defense cooperation between the two countries.

Lee underscored the fact that the Yoon administration will work to cement its will to respond to North Korea by strengthening the ROK-US combined readiness posture to deter North Korea’s use of nuclear arms and missiles, as well as making the deterrence of North Korea’s evolving nuclear and missile capabilities a priority.

 
Following the talks, the two ministers agreed to revise the 「Memorandum of Understanding on ROK-Singapore Defense Cooperation,」 which had provided the groundwork for defense cooperation since its signing in 2009, and held a signing ceremony.
