Defense minister meets with US AFPC delegation

In the morning of June 17, Minister of National Defense Lee Jong-sup met with a delegation from the American Foreign Policy Council (AFPC), including former senior United States (US)　Pentagon official Dov Zakheim and former US National Security Council (NSC) official Allison Hooker, who were visiting the Republic of Korea (ROK). The two sides exchanged opinions on the security situation on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia, and ways to build stability in the region. 

Lee also vowed that the ROK will play a necessary role in the process of the ROK-US partnership being developed into a global comprehensive strategic alliance, explaining the consultation in the area of national defense agreed upon at the ROK-US Summit held in May and the results of the ROK-US defense ministerial talks held on the sidelines of the Shangri-La Dialogue in June.
