Vice Defense Minister meets with Australian Assistant Secretary of Geostrategic Group

On the morning of Tuesday, June 21, Vice Minister of National Defense Shin Beom-cheol met with the Australian Foreign Ministry’s Assistant Secretary of the Geostrategic Group Justin Hayhurst, and the two sides exchanged opinions on bilateral cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region and the security situation on the Korean Peninsula.

Shin stressed that the Republic of Korea (ROK) and Australia need to cooperate closely in building stability in the region, as nations which share liberal democracy and universal values with each other, amid the deepening dynamics in the Indo-Pacific region, and Hayhurst shared his view on the need for bilateral and multilateral cooperation between nations with a similar stance.
