Military launches first military trauma center to provide top class treatment

- The military trauma center will contribute to public medical care through  specialized treatment for military trauma patients by linking the military emergency treatment system, and treatment expanded to civilian patients in the future -

- In a race against time to save the lives of trauma patients, the center will protect the lives of soldiers and the people with a sense of duty to ‘save’-

The Ministry of National Defense (Minister Suh Wook) and the Armed Forces Capital Hospital (Director Seok Wung) held an opening ceremony for the military trauma center on Monday, April 20, 2022, under the supervision of the Minister of National Defense.

The military trauma center is the ROK’s first military trauma treatment clinic to provide specialized diagnosis and treatment to soldiers with special trauma, such as bullet wounds and explosion wounds, as well as trauma patients in the military. The center will also provide treatment to civilian trauma patients in the future.

Significantly, the launch of the military trauma center has enabled ‘one-stop care for emergency patients,’ which covers emergency care linked to the all-source situation center of the Armed Forces Capital Hospital, prompt patient transfer using an ambulance helicopter (Medion), and treatment in the military trauma center, when there is an emergency trauma patient in the military.

“The launch of the military trauma center is a key project to reform the military medical system as one of the tasks of the Defense Reform 2.0 initiative,” Suh said in his opening remarks, stressing that “the military will work to enhance the quality of the military medical service to take responsibility for the precious lives of the soldiers who were injured while protecting our country.”
