ROK, Malaysia defense ministers meet via videoconference

- ROK concludes ‘memorandum of understanding on defense cooperation’ with all ASEAN members  -

On Wednesday afternoon, April 27, Minister of National Defense Suh Wook met with his Malaysian counterpart Dato' Seri Hishammuddin Bin Tun Hussein via videoconference, and the two ministers discussed a development plan for bilateral cooperation on national defense and defense industry.

The two ministers agreed to work closely to advance relations by expanding bilateral cooperation even in the area of national defense, as the two countries have grown into cooperative partners in various areas, including politics, the economy, society, and culture, since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1960, and have recently been consulting on upgrading their bilateral relations to a ‘strategic partnership.’

Significantly, Suh provided a detailed explanation on the excellent performance of the ROK’s FA-50 fighter jet, a model taking part in the Malaysian light combat aircraft acquisition project, and our government’s support plan, and asked Malaysia for its keen attention in this area.
