Military, Industry, Academy and Institute put heads together to take defense science and technology to next level

 - Presided over by defense minister, 「2nd Defense Science and Technology Committee」 held -

On Tuesday, February 22, Minister of National Defense Suh Wook presided over the 「2nd Defense Science and Technology Committee」 at the Agency for Defense Development (ADD) in Daejeon. 

The 「Defense Science and Technology Committee」 is a top-level ministerial consultative group that takes the lead in developing defense science and technology. Launched on October 7, 2021, the committee consists of the Minister of National Defense as the chairperson of the committee, deputy ministers from related ministries including the Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of Economy and Finance, Ministry of Science and ICT, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and Defense Acquisition Program Administration, heads of the main government-funded research centers which take the initiative in developing national defense science and technology, and civilian experts.

On the sidelines of the holding of the committee, the ADD unveiled a technology related to the solid-propellant rocket system to the members of the committee. This served as momentum to experience the outcomes of the development of national defense space power.

At the Tuesday committee, the participants had a wide-ranging discussion on a △ plan to push forward with the mixed use of a solid/liquid propulsion engine, a △ plan to build and develop an AI-based scientific boundary system, a △ plan to push forward with advancing defense research and development (R&D) innovation, and a △ plan to expand the future defense technology task discovery system.
