Defense Minister meets with Polish Secretary of State

On October 2, Defense Minister Kim Yong Hyun met with Polish Secretary of State Pawel Bejda on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the Korea Army International Defense Industry Exhibition (KADEX) 2024. They discussed ways to foster defense and defense industry cooperation between Korea and Poland.

Minister Kim stated, “Poland has been a key defense industry partner in Central and Eastern Europe. Korea and Poland have maintained close cooperation in defense and the defense industry since a framework contract worth USD 44.2 billion was signed in July 2022.”

Minister Kim highlighted the superiority of the Korean weapons systems that Poland’s military has purchased, such as K2 tanks, K9 self-propelled artillery and Chunmoo multiple rocket launchers. He suggested to his Polish counterpart that mutually beneficial cooperation in the defense industry should continue.

Minister Kim and Secretary of State Bejda agreed to continue to work closely together based on the successful achievements made so far.

Furthermore, the two officials highly praised the performance of the second Joint Korean-Polish Committee (JKPC) on Cooperation in the Fields of Defense and Defense Industry held in Warsaw, Poland, in June. They concurred on continuing the current partnership as well as comprehensive defense exchanges based on the achievements made so far.

Minister Kim and Secretary of State Bejda will maintain close communication for continued defense and defense industry cooperation between the two countries.
