Minister of National Defense visits Army Missile Command to check readiness posture

Suh emphasized need to maintain a firm military readiness posture to respond to North Korea’s missile threats

In the morning of Monday, January 31, Minister of National Defense Suh Wook visited the Army Missile Command (AMC), a key unit in implementing our military’s missile operation, to check the readiness posture in connection with the recent missile launches from North Korea, and encourage the soldiers working to fulfill their duties amid the COVID-19 situation and Lunar New Year holidays.

Suh’s visit to the AMC, which plays a pivotal role in responding to North Korea’s missile launches, was held to check our military’s overall capabilities and readiness posture to respond to missile threats at a military command level.

As he finished his visit, Suh commented that “Our military has been responding effectively to the increasing nuclear and missile threats from North Korea by integrating its own capabilities, including a system to respond to North Korea’s nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction (WMD), and the extended deterrence between the Republic of Korea and the United States, and will continue to further strengthen its capabilities.”
