Defense minister presides over 17th meeting of top commanders of all armed services



Ministry to strengthen the Omicron variant response system by expanding military quarantine and medical response capabilities and tightening the quarantine control for enlisted service members and soldiers returning from vacation





On Friday afternoon, February 4, Minister of National Defense Suh Wook presided over the 17th meeting of the top commanders of all armed services via video link at the main building of the ministry, with participants including the chairperson of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the chief of staff of each armed service, the commandant of the Marine Corps, and the commander of the Armed Forces Medical Command.



At the meeting, participants discussed △ an analysis of the spread of Omicron variant in the military, △ an assessment of the response capabilities of each armed service and a plan for measures, and △ an analysis of the COVID-19 situation both in and outside the military, and the appropriate direction for response measures.



The ministry said in a statement that it will strive to maintain an airtight military readiness posture, amid the rapid increase in the number of Omicron variant cases both in and outside the military, as the Omicron variant prevails across the country.
