53rd ROK-US Security Council Meeting (SCM) held in Seoul



ROK Defense Minister Suh Wook and U.S. Defense Minister Lloyd Austin will hold the 53rd ROK-U.S. Security Council Meeting (SCM) on December 2, 2021, Thursday, at the ROK Ministry of National Defense. High-ranking officials in charge of defense and foreign affairs from both sides will also attend this meeting.



At this SCM, the Republic of Korea and the U.S. will address various security issues in depth, including ▴coordination of North Korea policies for complete denuclearization and establishment of a lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula, ▴promotion of OPCON transition based on conditions, and ▴methodologies to promote defense cooperation for the development of a comprehensive and mutually beneficial ROK-U.S. alliance.



In the meantime, Minister Lloyd Austin and the U.S. delegation visiting Korea are scheduled to attend the ‘Night for ROK-U.S. Alliance’ event and visit key personnel in the ROK military from December 1.
