9th Paik Seon-yup ROK-US Alliance Award Ceremony Held

- Charles Bernard Rangel, former US congressman, declared the winner

Defense Minister Suh Wook has selected Charles B. Rangel, a former member of the U.S. House of Representatives (New York State), as the recipient of the 9th Paik Seon-yup ROK-US Alliance Award* in cooperation with the JoongAng Ilbo.

Rep. Rangel was selected as winner of the award based on the fact that he dedicated himself to the defense of the Republic of Korea as a veteran of the Korean War, and served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives for 46 years ('71~'17).

Minister Suh plans to continue to select and honor Americans who have contributed to the defense of the Republic of Korea and the development of the ROK-U.S. alliance, including veterans of the Korean War and major US defense and security officials.
