Defense ministry holds 「2021 Year-End Meeting of Top Commanders of Armed Services」



Commanders discussed ways to overcome the COVID-19 crisis, as well as main defense policies and progress direction



Presided over by Minister of National Defense Suh Wook, the Ministry of National Defense held the 「2021 Year-End Meeting of the Top Commanders of the Armed Services」 at 10 A.M. on Friday, December 10.



In his opening remarks, Suh praised soldiers for their hard work for the country and the security of the people by fulfilling their duties, even in grave security situations, including COVID-19 crisis. Suh also asked the military to enhance the completeness of ground-sea-air security operations and maintain the ‘best defense posture’ by strengthening training and education oriented on a combat mission, with the establishment of a strict discipline and a mental readiness posture centering around commanders, stressing that the purpose of the military is to protect the security of the country and the lives and properties of the people, regardless of the circumstances.



“We should work to achieve ‘strong security, proud military, cooperative defense’ by pushing forward with the five defense management points in 2022, with a mindset of people who cooperate in harmony,” Suh also stressed.



At the following meeting, participants assessed the current defense situation centering around the Northeast Asian countries, and discussed ways to prevent a wide range of potential issues, such as safety accidents in the military, as well as the outcomes of the main defense policies in 2021 and the direction for the next year.
