Military to start COVID-19 booster shots for soldiers on December 13

The Ministry of National Defense said in a statement that the military will start to roll out COVID-19 booster shots (Pfizer vaccines) on Monday, December 13, for soldiers who have already received their first and second doses of the vaccine.

The administration of COVID-19 booster shots in the military was supposed to start on Monday, December 27, but considering the grave COVID-19 situation, including the increase of breakthrough cases in the military, 41 of the 91 vaccination centers (military hospitals, division-class medical corps, etc.) will start booster shots within this week (Dec. 13~17). The other vaccination centers intend to complete booster shots by Friday, January 14, after starting on December 20.

Like the first and second doses of the vaccine, the booster shots will also be administered to individuals with their voluntary consent, and a 24-hour 「adverse event response team」 will be managed to check the vaccination status in real time and provide prompt actions and medical consultation to any vaccinated soldiers who experience adverse events.
