“Changes Made Together With The People, Government Fulfilling Its Responsibility Until The End”

Through an uninterrupted peace-making process on the Korean Peninsula,
the Korean government will preserve and create peace.

On December 20 (Monday) last year, under the banner of “Changes Made Together With The People, Government Fulfilling Its Responsibility Until The End,” the government presented to the President a written action plan for next year under the theme of “Peace on the Korean Peninsula,” one of the five key national tasks that should be addressed by the end of the term.

The Ministry of National Defense (MND) has decided to continue providing military support for complete denuclearization and establishment of a lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula by faithfully implementing the ‘9/19 Military Agreement.’

While maintaining a firm military readiness posture, the MND will continuously maintain military stability through measures to stop mutual hostilities in border areas including land, sea, and air.

The Ministry of National Defense (MND) also continues to make efforts to implement tasks such as excavating remains from the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), taking measures to demilitarize the JSA, and carrying out a pilot flight at the Han River estuary.

The MND reported on a plan to establish an all-round defense posture, ensure the establishment of peace on the Korean Peninsula, promote the OPCON transfer based on the ROK-U.S. alliance, and create a defense environment that can be trusted by the public.

The MND will faithfully implement the ‘9/19 Military Agreement’ while actively promoting the excavation of remains from Baekma Hill in the DMZ, a tour to Panmunjom, and a visit to the Peace Road in the DMZ in connection with the withdrawn Guard Posts (GP).

The MND will systematically and actively promote the OPCON transition while maintaining a strong ROK-U.S. combined defense posture.

The MND will meet the public's expectations and create a defense environment in which soldiers can concentrate on their duties through efforts that include improvement of military service conditions and the housing support system for professional soldiers, enhancement of the military medical system, respect for discharged soldiers and veterans, and active support of the military in the event of national disasters.

The MND will raise the status of the military to win the people’s trust, equipped with deterrence and response capabilities against transnational and non-military threats such as infectious diseases including COVID-19, disasters, and terrorism.
