Defense minister meets with Australian Chief of Army

On November 1, Minister of National Defense Suh Wook held talks with visiting Australian Chief of Army Rick Burr in Seoul to discuss ways to develop bilateral cooperation in national defense and the defense industry, as well as the security situation in the region.

Expressing his appreciation for the fifth foreign and defense ministerial meetings between the Republic of Korea (ROK) and Australia, which were successfully held on September 13, Suh stressed the need to deepen cooperation between the defense ministries and armed services of the two countries, so that the agreements reached at the two meetings can be implemented faithfully.

Noting that the two countries plan to reach an agreement, as a Korean company has been chosen as a sole counterparty in the Australia’s self-propelled artillery project, Suh expressed his expectation that the Armies of the two countries would improve their interoperability by strengthening bilateral cooperation in the area of self-propelled artillery, taking bilateral cooperation in the defense industry as momentum.
