ROK, ASEAN launch new defense ministerial meeting

- At the meeting, Minister Suh explained implementation plan for the development of ROK-ASEAN defense cooperation -

On November 10, Minister of National Defense Suh Wook took part in 「ROK-ASEAN defense ministerial meeting 2021」, held for the first time at the invitation of the second defense minister of Brunei, chair of ASEAN for 2021.

Held via video link, the meeting was attended by defense ministers from seven ASEAN countries and vice ministerial class officials from three countries. Suh explained the ‘implementation plan for the development of ROK-ASEAN defense cooperation’ that will be pushed forward by the ministry for the next five years.

Regarding the implementation plan for defense cooperation, Suh said that the ROK will work to promote harmonious cooperation between the New Southern Policy and ASEAN’s outlook on the Indo-Pacific in the area of national defense.
