ROK’s stance on the missing Indonesian submarine



□ Regarding the Indonesian submarine that went missing during an exercise at the northern waters of Bali, Indonesia, on April 21, the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Korea expresses its heartfelt sympathies to the Indonesian defense ministry.



□ The ministry has a plan to assist in the Indonesian defense ministry’s search and rescue work by mobilizing all available measures in the event a request is received from Indonesia, one of the ROK's main partner nations in the areas of defense and defense industries based on a special strategic partnership. 



□ Immediately after becoming aware of the missing Indonesian submarine, the ministry conveyed its willingness to assist in rescue work to the Indonesian defense ministry through a foreign channel.



□ On Thursday morning, Minister Suh Wook ordered the Navy to make full preparations for departure in the event that the Indonesian defense ministry requests rescue assistance.
