Defense ministers of ROK and US to meet in Seoul, March 17

□ United States (US) Secretary of Defense Lloyd James Austin Ⅲ will visit Seoul from Wednesday, March 17 to Friday, March 19.

□ Minister of National Defense Suh Wook and his US counterpart Austin will hold the ROK-US defense ministers’ talks in Seoul on March 17. The talks will be attended by high-level officials from the defense ministries of the two countries.

□ These talks will be the first talks between the two ministers since Austin was appointed. Suh and Austin agreed to have a face-to-face meeting for communication at an early date, during phone talks on January 24.

□ Suh and Austin will have an in-depth discussion of various ROK-US issues, sharing the assessment of security situation on the Korean Peninsula.

□ Meanwhile, the two ministers will hold the ROK-US foreign and defense ministers’ meeting on Thursday, March 18, together with Minister of Foreign Affairs Chung Eui-yong and US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken.
