The 2023 Defense Public Data Competition organized by the Ministry of National Defense is scheduled to take place from May 8 to July 9. The competition aims to foster the wider utilization of defense public data and encourage the development of innovative ideas and services based on defense datasets.

*Public data: administrative, population, medical services, and transportation data collected or obtained by public institutions for various purposes

The Ministry of National Defense, Military Manpower Administration, and Defense Acquisition Program Administration are jointly hosting the competition with the objective of broadening public access to data and exploring data for convergence and integration. The goal is to enhance public understanding and interest in utilizing defense public data, thereby promoting the data-based startups and fostering innovation in this field.

The competition consists of two categories: ideation and service development, which involve utilizing defense public data to create innovative ideas and develop mobile applications or web services. The competition is open to all Korean citizens.
