Meeting between Defense Minister Lee Jong-sup and GRULAC Ambassadors in Korea

—Defense Minister Lee Jong-sup met with GRULAC Ambassadors in Korea to

discuss defense cooperation and the Korean Peninsula's security situation

Defense Minister Lee Jong-sup participated in a meeting organized by GRULAC Ambassadors to Korea at Seoul's Four Seasons Hotel on May 8. They discussed enhancing defense and defense industry cooperation between Korea and Latin American and Caribbean countries, as well as security matters concerning the Korean Peninsula and the Indo-Pacific region.

Minister Lee highlighted the significance of being the first defense minister of Korea to meet with GRULAC Ambassadors to Korea. He acknowledged the long-standing defense cooperation between Korea and Latin American countries, which encompasses high-level engagements, military exchanges, educational collaborations, and defense industry partnerships over the past six decades.

The GRULAC Ambassadors to Korea, including Ambassador of Panama to the Republic of Korea, expressed their appreciation for the initiatives undertaken by the Korean Defense Ministry in strengthening defense cooperation with GRULAC countries. They affirmed their commitment to actively support and foster defense collaboration and defense industry cooperation between Korea and Latin American countries.

Lastly, Minister Lee underscored the pivotal role played by GRULAC Ambassadors to Korea as facilitators of reciprocal defense and defense industry cooperation between Korea and Latin America. He urged them to continue their dedicated efforts in this regard.
