Defense Minister Shin Won Sik emphasized, “It is important to continue improving the systems and policies of the reserve forces as the one pillar of strength to defend the Republic of Korea.”

“The reserve forces have always come at the forefront of national defense whenever the nation and people face crises,” Minister Shin said at the exemplar reservists and family invitation event on the occasion of the 56th Reserves Day held at the MND Convention Center in Yongsan-gu, Seoul on April 4.

Minister Shin told the reservists, “I hope you will become a solid pillar for national security, and the Defense Ministry will continue to improve reserve forces systems and policies so that members of the reserve forces can take pride.”

He encouraged them by saying, “I am proud of you who are playing a pivotal role in national security and regional development, and I appreciate your dedication to the nation and people.”

The event was held to recognize the efforts of exemplar reservists who contributed to the development of the reserve forces and the support provided by their families. Hosted by the Defense Minister, this was the first such event in five years.

Fifty reservists were selected by the Defense Ministry at the recommendation of the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps. For the event, 50 family members of these reservists were also invited.

They will be provided opportunities for security tours and a cultural visit. After the event, they started a three-night, four-day tour to Jeju Island along with their families. They will visit Maritime Task Flotilla Seven and Camellia Hill Botanical Garden, and see the Jeju Art Circus on the island until April 7.
