The Ministry of National Defense(MND), on March 8, said that Defense Minister Han Min-koo sent a letter of condolence to American Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter for the current attack on Mark William Lippert, the U.S. Ambassador to Republic of Korea on March 6.

Minister Han indicated his regret for the shocking incident that the U.S. ambassador Mark Lippert was slashed with a razor as well as all Koreans’ regret and wishes for his quick recovery from the attack.

The letter said the Korea-U.S. alliance has been strengthened, undergoing lots of hardships and adversities, so this would develop into a comprehensive strategic alliance.

It added the Minister’s hope to have an earnest conversation about the Korea-U.S. alliance, regional security and world security as soon as possible.
