Changes in the affairs of the Ministry of National Defense in 2023

The Ministry of National Defense is improving the welfare, living environment and reserve forces system to provide comfortable barracks environment for young soldiers and realize a country where soldiers take pride in serving in the military.

Major changes in the Ministry of National Defense in 2023 are as follows.

1. Raise of monthly salary for soldiers (sergeants to 1 million won) in 2023

2. Increased financial support for the Installment Deposit to Help Soldiers Prepare for Tomorrow

3. Renovation of barracks rooms to 2–4 person rooms

4. Increased compensation for mobilization training of reserve forces (62,000 won in 2022 to 82,000 won in 2023)

5. Expansion of areas eligible for the long-term part-time reserve forces system the pilot program

6. Conducting safety tests for commercial equipment (vehicles, construction machinery) for military use
