Defense minister holds invitational luncheon meeting with former commanders of US Forces in Korea



On October 26, Wednesday, Minister of National Defense Lee Jong-sup held an invitational luncheon meeting with former commanders of the United States (USFK), visiting the Republic of Korea (ROK) to participate in the ROK-US alliance future peace conference*, at which the guests exchanged opinions on the development direction for the ROK-US alliance.



This meeting was attended by former commanders of the USFK, including Curtis Scaparrotti (23rd), Vincent Brooks (24th), and Robert Abrams (25th), and directors of the Korea-US Alliance Foundation (KUSAF), including KUSAF President Jung Sung-jo and KUSAF Vice President Lim Ho-young. 



Lee emphasized that the current North Korean nuclear and missile threat is more serious than ever before, and that close cooperation between the two countries is very important to enhance the capacity to carry out the US extended deterrence.
