Defense minister Lee Jong-sup holds meeting with experts from US Council on Foreign Relations (CFR)

On the morning of Wednesday, November 2, Minister of National Defense Lee Jong-sup visited the United States (US) Council on Foreign Relations (CFR*) at the invitation of the CFR during his visit to the US to participate in the 54th ROK-US Security Consultative Meeting (SCM). Lee held a meeting with experts belonging to the CFR after his keynote address on the situation on the Korean Peninsula and the direction of our defense policy.

Prior to this meeting, Lee had a conversation with Kathleen Stephens, former US ambassador to the Republic of Korea (ROK) who led the meeting, and expressed thanks for her continued activities for the ROK-US alliance even after she had left the office of US ambassador. 

This meeting lasted for about 1.5 hours and included Lee’s keynote address followed by a question and answer session with the participating CFR experts.
