Deputy defense minister attends the virtual meeting of 「Ukraine Defense Contact Group」

At 9 pm on Monday, May 23, Deputy Minister of National Defense Shin Beom-cheol attended a virtual meeting of the 「Ukraine Defense Contact Group」, hosted by the United States defense minister Lloyd J. Austin Ⅲ.

Hosted by the US, this meeting was attended by representatives from about 40 countries around the world. The meeting started with △ sharing the war situation in Ukraine (first session), which was followed by △ an update on each country’s support for Ukraine (second session) and a △ debate on cooperation in each country’s support for Ukraine (third session).

In the second session, Shin expressed his strong condemnation of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, stressing that it is a violation of the Charter of the United Nations, and also shared the current situation regarding humanitarian support and non-lethal munitions provided at a governmental level.
