Defense minister attends burial ceremony for the late retired lieutenant general Olmstead, ‘Hero of the Battle of Jang Jin Reservoir’

On July 28 (local time), Minister of National Defense Lee Jong-sup attended the burial ceremony for the late retired lieutenant general Stephen G. Olmstead, ‘Hero of the Battle of Jang Jin Reservoir in Korean War,’ held at the Quantico National Cemetery in Virginia, the United States (US), and commemorated the deceased and consoled the bereaved family.

Born in New York (US) in 1929, the deceased engaged in the Korean War as a soldier in the US 1st Marine Division and played an active part in the Incheon Landing Operation and Battle of Jang Jin Reservoir. He had been commissioned as a marine officer and promoted to three-star general for his significant contribution in the Vietnam War.
