Defense Minister Lee Jong-sup and U.S. Secretary of Defense Austin visit Andrews Air Force Base, USA, and check U.S. strategic assets

South Korea's Minister of National Defense Lee Jong-sup and his U.S. counterpart Lloyd Austin visited Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland near Washington, D.C., on the 3rd of November (local time), following the 54th ROK-U.S. Security Consultative Meeting (SCM).

The purpose of the visit was to show that the U.S. commitment to provide extended deterrence to defend South Korea is ironclad.

Secretary Austin and Minister Lee reaffirmed that they will closely cooperate in strengthening U.S. and ROK military capabilities to implement U.S. extended deterrence to effectively respond to nuclear and missile threats from North Korea.
