Republic of Korea discusses future and develop direction of cyber defense security

- Ministry of National defense held awards ceremony and a conference for 「White Hat Contest 2021」 -

On Wednesday, November 3, Minister of National Defense Suh Wook held an awards ceremony and conference for ｢White Hat Contest 2021｣, under the slogan of ‘cooperative, powerful cyber defense,’ at the ministry convention in Seoul.

The Wednesday event started with the Cyber Operations Commander’s opening address, which was followed by Minister Suh’s welcoming address, congratulatory addresses from National Assembly member Ahn Kyu-baek and Third Deputy Director of the National Intelligence Service Kim Seon-hee, an awards ceremony for the anti-hacking contest, and a conference.

At the awards ceremony, the results of the anti-hacking contests held on September 11 (preliminary round) and October 9 (semi-final round) were announced, and the top three teams in each field (general, youth, and defense) received awards.

The conference featured a keynote address from a domestic expert in cyber security, a discussion between experts in each field and military cadets, and a presentation for exchanges on the recent threats and technical information, with a focus on building awareness of the importance of defense cyber security and seeking in-depth strategies to respond to cyber warfare through a survey of the future of cyber warfare.
