Defense representatives from 40 countries around the world to sit together to discuss the trend and future evolution of cyber warfare and the direction of military strategies

On September 6 (Tuesday), the Ministry of National Defense will hold the largest scale ever 「Seoul Defense Dialogue 2022 Cyber Working Group」 at Lotte Hotel, in Sogong-dong, Seoul, under the theme “trend of evolution in the future cyber warfare and the direction of cyber military strategies.”

Presided over by Deputy Defense Minister for Policy Heo Tae-keun, the meeting will open with congratulatory remarks from Third Deputy Director of the National Intelligence Service and Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, which will be followed by a keynote address from the chief of the Korea Internet & Security Agency, presentations from each country’s government and civilian experts, and a discussion.

Significantly, it is expected that this meeting will serve as meaningful momentum to strengthen the partnership among defense authorities, who will share the defense cyber strategies of each country, which have not been actively discussed due to national security, even though the influence of cyber security is increasing in military terms.

The ministry will continue to set out the direction of a new policy to enhance the international community’s response capabilities in the area of cyber security through the Seoul Defense Dialogue Cyber Working Group, and play a responsible role in building mutual trust among countries.
